FIELD NOTES 001

Turning Point

Some decisions you make yourself. Not this one.

After more than twenty years, my role at ALDI SÜD ends in April 2027, as part of a restructuring.

I started in 2006 as a part-timer, not far from my parents' house. In the summer of the football World Cup. I had no idea it would stay with me for more than twenty years.

Eleven moves. Three continents. Ten different leaders.

The last few days showed me, more than anything, how much impact can exist beyond roles, titles, and org charts.

The conversations with people I was lucky enough to work with over many years made it clear to me again: your own worth often shows up where you move people, open up perspectives, and make growth possible.

That was always the most important part of my work. Not just building structures or driving change, but developing people, and creating impact that reaches beyond the job itself.

The more I make peace with what comes next, the more clearly I feel it: there is more.

The subjects that actually occupy me. How people lead, and how they're led. How responsibility changes people. How creativity survives next to large structures. And the question of how you don't lose yourself in the process. They've always run in parallel.

Maybe there was simply never real room for them. Now they get their place.

Sometimes your perspective only changes when you change your distance.

Life is more than just a uniform.
