Dr. Maria-Magdalena Schmitz

Maria-Magdalena Schmitz came to her present work by an unusual route. She holds a doctorate in law, with a dissertation in criminal psychology on yoga in prisons. Today she runs her own practice in Cologne, working in psychotherapy, psychological counselling and constellation work. Her approach is depth-psychological: she is less interested in a symptom than in what sits underneath it, in the unconscious patterns that shape how people experience their lives, their relationships and their choices. She trained in psychodynamic therapy and phenomenological counselling, and qualified as a constellation facilitator at the Nelles Institut. She lives in Cologne with her husband and their two children. Her first conversation with anyone is free, on the principle that whether the two of you can work together matters more than any qualification on paper.
